Ten Commandments Judge Files Appeal to Win Back Job

Ten Commandments Judge Files Appeal to Win Back Job
Wed December 10, 2003 06:22 PM ET

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Reuters) - Stripped of his position for refusing a federal order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from a courthouse, Alabama's former chief justice on Wednesday asked the state's highest court to give him his job back.

In an appeal filed with Alabama's Supreme Court, Roy Moore said he was following the Alabama and U.S. constitutions when he defied a U.S. District Court order last summer to move a 5,000-pound Ten Commandments display from the state judiciary building in Montgomery.

2. I'll never be able to grasp the illogic..
snip-

On Wednesday, Moore called the district court order "unlawful and unconstitutional" and said he had a constitutional obligation to acknowledge God in his former position as chief justice of the Bible Belt state.

:wtf:

4. Calculate the odds of him EVER getting his job back
First, the Alabama SC would have to reverse their UNANIMOUS decision to remove him.

Second, there's a new Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. Whoever he is, he's one of the former lesser-justices who voted to remove Moore. Do you suppose he will vote to remove himself from the top spot? Didn't think so.

Oh well, maybe Roy Moore can write a book that will be in the dollar store in 7 or 8 months and I can buy a few copies for shimming purposes.

5. He gambled with a Bluff and the other guys called it, They had a stronger
hand and Judge Moore lost his "All In" bet.

Lesson #1: Never bluff a stronger hand with ALL IN.

8. And, he's got nowhere to go, at least not in the judge business
Bush might like to appoint him to the federal bench to appease his Christian-right zealot base, but the guy is poison. He'd be successfully fillibustered as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow.

Enjoy your retirement, wingnut.

6. Roy Moore is a terrible excuse for a human being
and an even worse judge.

I hope he comes to do one of his rallies in my town soon. I'm coming down with the flu, I think, and this is what I will do to him, on pretense of asking for an autograph (his ego is the size, roughly, of the Western hemisphere):
