GOP reserves Bush a spot in state primary
Perry: `Texas is Bush country'

AUSTIN -- President Bush, his job approval marks slipping but still strong in his home state, officially became a candidate Wednesday in the March 9 Texas Republican primary.

Gov. Rick Perry, flanked by other GOP officeholders, filed the necessary paperwork at Texas Republican headquarters. He predicted a close presidential race next year but said Bush, his predecessor as governor, will run strong in Texas.

"Texas is Bush country, and you can bet it's going to stay that way in 2004," Perry said.

Bush's filing came one day after a new Scripps Howard Texas Poll indicated that the president's job approval rating in Texas has fallen 7 percentage points since August and 13 percentage points since June.

2. Aww, I was hoping
...that this was for a job for the state. Like Lt. Governor or something. Shucks.

I still think B*sh deserves a shot at Gov. of Iraq, after he is relieved of his current position.

6. Wouldn't it just be icing on the cake
if Bush were to get his ass kicked even in Texas? I'd love that, love it. Dean, Clark, Kerry, or the ham sandwich listed below, I don't care.

I think it's at least a possibility, and a goal to work toward.

5. Someone Needs To Reserve Bush A Spot In Prison!
Hey, Bush is a deserter, which is treason! Why doesn't someone tell it like it is! Bush, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Rev. Moon, Asscroft, and their ilk should all be in prison! Actually, wasn't the Bush family close friend Rev. Moon is prison? Well, don't forget, Rev. Moon is Christ on Earth! And he owns the "Washington Times" and "UPI", not to mention dictatorships, etc.!

GOPers have already "crowned" their king...

just more photo-op and spin for the emperor with no clothes...

reminds me of "elections" in third-world countries where the only candidate is the current despot... isn't this how Saddam was re-elected time and time again - by being the only choice on the "ballot"?

13. ROFL
Perry and some aides went into the Liberty Bank building downtown, where the Republican Party of Texas is headquartered and stayed for about 30 minutes. That's according to a woman who answered the phone at the bank but refused to give her name.

Now that's rich!!!
