NYT: Bush Defends Policy on Awarding Contracts to Rebuild Iraq
From The New York Times:

...snip...

White House officials said Mr. Bush and his aides had been surprised by both the timing and the blunt wording of the Pentagon's declaration. But they said the White House had signed off on the policy, after a committee of deputies from a number of departments and the National Security Council agreed that the most lucrative contracts must be reserved for political or military supporters.

MUCH, MUCH MORE

By "political... supporters", did they mean that contracts are open to all supporters of democracy and freedom, including unions and other contributors to all political parties in this country, or will they continue to limit contracts to major supporters of the B*FEE oligarchy, like Halliburton and Bechtel, exclusively? Just wondering, 'cause I never know anymore. dw

1. The second choice, of course...it's for THEIR political supporters, we
all who support Democrats are traitors, pure and simple.

2. Wolfowitz, Condi, and US taxpayer dollars?? this is some bizarre soap
So Condi signs off on an agreement to deny contracts to the bad EU members, Wolfowitz makes it so and leaks to press, undermining Baker's trip to get debt reduction agreements from the same bad EU members and showing that EU doesn't really matter to world-wide plan and Bush says he doesn't want to spend OUR tax dollars on contracts with the bad EU, which means contracts are basically US/UK contracts, not Iraqi and who are THEY anyway. Beam me up!

3. It sounds like Tom DeLay is writing WH foreign policy
Wasn't he the one that decided that congress would only spend money in districts whose representative supported Bush's war effort?

7. "Committee of deputies".......who are THEY?
These mysterious people are making decisions that affect all of us and we don't know about them. Who exactly is "running" this country?
