Canada *IS* exluded from contracts - Update
But not SUB-contracts. Of course, anyone can pick up those.

http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/12/11/chretien031211

Chrétien says Bush wants Canada to get Iraq contracts

OTTAWA - Prime Minister Jean Chrétien stuck to his story that U.S. President George W. Bush does not want to exclude Canada from lucrative contracts to rebuild Iraq. Chrétien said Bush told him in a phone call that he was not happy that Canada was on a list of countries excluded from contracts. Chrétien said Bush told him he would see what he could do to change that.

"I'm just telling you what I understood him to say," Chrétien told reporters after his final cabinet meeting. "He's the one that raised the problem, not me."

<snip>

But U.S. officials said Bush was referring to sub-contracts when he told Chrétien that there would be business opportunities for Canada in Iraq.

When asked about Chrétien's comments, White House spokesperson Scott McClellan reiterated the administration's position that the 63 countries involved in the U.S.-led coalition into Iraq will participate in the contracts. He said Canada was not on that list.

2. GW Bush - A man of deep conviction that says what he means and...
...does what he says. Just like a cowboy.

So since Canada didn't support war with Iraq, then why the flip-flop?

4. If I was Canada,
I'd pull my troops out of Afghanistan. And tell Bush not to bother to ask for debt relief in Iraq.

The stupid arrogance of this administration is beyond belief. We really need to impeach these idiots before they destroy our country with these irresponsible actions.

Sub contracts! Of course!

The chimp gets to beat his chest in front of the neocons and his looney right base, while Tony Blair passes out the goodies via "subcontracts" to France, Russia, Germany and Canada!

What a stupid moron. Still thinking like the lying, cheating stealing CEO he is.

10. More of that "plain speaking"
Smirk probably doesn't even know what's going on. Wolfowitz and Cheney have't given him his note cards on what to say yet

11. I want to know...
why isn't the Department of Defense not on the same page as the CIC?

Why doesn't the media present this schism?

I thought the executive branch appointed the cabinet members and the cabinet members were thus "beholden" to the executive. That isn't working here. What's wrong?

Why is the Defense Department and the media consistently on the same page as evidenced by the wolfowitz proclamation undermining efforts by the Presidency to enable NATO?

Judging by the current incompetence and irresponsability of Rumsfield et. al., if I were president, I'd fire the lot of 'em.

I want to know...
