B.C. ferry strike over - Globe and Mail
Victoria — The B.C. ferries strike is over, the company's president said Friday.

Both sides agreed to binding arbitration, a recommendation made by a mediator after 16 hours of talks ended with no agreement in the early morning hours.

When asked if that means that the strike that stranded thousands is over, B.C. Ferries president David Hahn responded: “Yes.”

5. What a relief!!
Folks there were worried that it might become like the Bus Strike in Vancouver...the longest bus strike in North American history!!

Both sides sure like a 'Good Fight' in B.C.

7. the mainland's cut off from us!
Hah -- I've always wanted to say that since I moved to the Vancouver Island (it's from the "Anne of Green Gables" musical -- a different island, but pretty appropriate).

I saw the Ferries people picketing the downtown office. The Pat Bay Highway bus to the terminal was a lot emptier yesterday than it usually is. (Which in a way was good for me, because I was lugging a bulky crate with a live chicken in it ...)
