Ex-Boeing execs in criminal probe
WSJ reports criminal investigation under way

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Just as Boeing is about to shine a spotlight on its next new commercial plane, the ethics scandal tied to the company's ousted CFO and a former U.S. Air Force official has reportedly evolved into a criminal investigation.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, former CFO Mike Sears and Darleen Druyun are now the target of a criminal investigation led by the Defense Department's Criminal Investigative Service and the U.S. Attorney's office in the Eastern District of Virginia.

Investigators are now looking farther back at Druyun's work while in the Air Force, where she oversaw decisions on big contracts involving Chicago-based Boeing (BA: news, chart, profile), including the air-to-air tanker deal that led to the scrutiny of relations with company officials. Investigators are also probing any effort by the pair to foil earlier inquiries, according to the newspaper report.
