Democratic Debate Is Canceled in N.H.

WASHINGTON -- As one debate goes by the wayside, another takes its place.

Organizers announced Friday that they were canceling a Democratic presidential debate scheduled for Jan. 8 in New Hampshire. The reason? All the candidates will be in Iowa, preparing for the Jan. 19 caucuses.

NBC's "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert had been slated to moderate the event, which was to be broadcast on MSNBC and PBS affiliates.

At the same time, a new debate was added in Iowa on Jan. 6 -- to be broadcast on radio only. National Public Radio and WOI radio in Des Moines, Iowa, will sponsor the debate.

A radio debate among presidential candidates has not been held in years, said Susan Feeney, a senior editor at NPR.

The two-hour debate, which will be moderated by Neal Conan, host of NPR's "Talk of the Nation," program will be aired live during the afternoon and rebroadcast later in the evening on most NPR affiliate stations, Feeney said.

Newsday

They are stiffing RUSSERT in favor of NPR!!

3. To Hell With Russert.
Never forget his last stab at moderating a debate:

RUSSERT (to Hillary Clinton): Don't you think you owe the American people an apology?

I think this is fabulous news.

4. Russe(r)t has about as much wit as Mr. Potatohead.
No, I take that back. Mr. Potatohead is definitely more interesting.

What a cool idea!

10. damn, you beat me -- but definitely not Jon Stewart

If he treated it seriously, it'd bore people. If he made it a joke, it'd be a joke on our people.

12. I hope they do not re-schedule the debate with Russert.
He would be 10 times worse then Koppel. He would not ask one substantative question, he would just stir the pot and try to get all the debaters to slit each others throats.

I hope he is throwing a hissy fit right now!!LOL
