Bush not seen Saddam execution video: White House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush has not seen the illicit video of Saddam Hussein's execution because he is focused on the "way forward" in Iraq, the White House said on Wednesday.

The White House said U.S. concerns about the way Saddam's execution was carried out were expressed to the Iraqi government through the U.S. Embassy and military officials in Baghdad.

Bush's focus was on the judicial process that was followed in Iraq and "the way forward," White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said.

"The president has said that he was pleased that the Iraqi people carried forward a judicial process, tried someone who has murdered hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens, and carried forward justice that was unimaginable during his reign. And that's where the president's focus was," he said.

Asked why Bush had not seen the video, Stanzel replied: "Because that's not his focus."

Maybe it's true. Bush is a coward, and might be afraid to look on the face of death. He is truly terrified of death. I've heard from people who used to do bodyguard work (state troopers)for the governor when Bush was in Austin. He was terrifed of everything. He would hide behind the troopers until they made sure it was safe. A true coward. These same people contrasted him to Ann Richards, who waded into crowds to shake hands even as the troopers were telling her to hold back.

On the other hand, Bush could just as easily have watched it and enjoyed the heck out of it, with his fascination for killing living things--from the frogs he used to blow up as a kid, to Karla Faye tucker, the woman he mocked after her execution.

So, who knows? All we can be sure is that the White House is following a strategy, and hasn't even stopped to consider whether the story is true. They don't even worry about actual facts when telling their stories. It's all spin. Whether the spin happens to align with facts or not is completely irrelevant, and most of them wouldn't understand why that's an issue.
