New Yorkers against the war in Iraq gathered for vigils around the city Tuesday to honor the 3,000 servicemen and women killed since the war began and to call for a withdrawal of U.S. troops. NY1's Lindley Pless filed the following report.
World War II veteran Arthur Wasserman was one of more than 200 anti-war protestors who gathered around the city Tuesday night to share a message.
“The majority of the American people are opposed to it,” he said, referring to the war in Iraq. “When do they stand up and say enough is enough?”
“We are out here to mark the 3,000th death of a U.S. soldier that happened right on the eve of this New Year,” said Lesley Kielson of United for Peace and Justice. “And to mourn the devastating loss of life of both U.S. soldiers and the 600,000 Iraqis who have been killed.”
