White House won't condemn Saddam taunts
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/01/03/D8MDV7N00.html

<snip>
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration sent conflicting signals Wednesday about the taunting and baiting that accompanied Saddam Hussein's execution, with the White House declining to join criticism of the procedure and the State Department and U.S. military raising questions about it.

"The president is focused on the new way forward in Iraq so these issues are best addressed out of Iraq, out of Baghdad," deputy White House press secretary Scott Stanzel said. "Prime Minister Maliki's staff have already expressed their disappointment in the filmings, so I guess we'll leave it at that."

Stanzel said the U.S. military and the U.S. Embassy in Iraq had expressed concerns about the timing of Saddam's execution and later about "the process and what took place."

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Wednesday that U.S. officials questioned conducting the execution on a Muslim festival day and as well as some procedures, such as who would be signing certain documents.

5. "Oh, please don't kill me"
If you can mock one condemned prisoner, why not condone mocking another? It's that old compassionate conservatism again.

8. U.S. officials questioned conducting the execution on a Muslim festival day????
what utter bullshit. this pretense that it wasn't completely at the orders of the white house, right down to the 'leaked' video, is so insulting.

9. Could it be that Saddam's execution is part of the "Shiite Tilt" strategy?
Read this:

"On the political front, the administration is focusing increasingly on variations of a "Shiite tilt," sometimes called an "80 percent solution," that would bolster the political center of Iraq and effectively leave in charge the Shiite and Kurdish parties that account for 80 percent of Iraq's 26 million people and that won elections a year ago.

"Vice President Cheney's office has most vigorously argued for the "80 percent solution," in terms of both realities on the ground and the history of U.S. engagement with the Shiites, sources say.

10. I don't know why anyone would be surprised by Chimpy's
non response...

He was proud of the Death Penalty in Texas and mocked a women who was to be executed....

America should hang it's head low....

No one is defending Saddam for he was a criminal but how can America claim to have the moral compass the world should compare itself too when the leader * is such a sociopath...
