Soldier's lost data used in fake video
By CHANTAL ESCOTO
The Leaf-Chronicle

A Fort Campbell soldier who lost a digital memory card used to make an anti-war propaganda film that aired on Iraqi TV will not be disciplined, officials said Monday.

Post spokesperson Kelly Ann Tyler said that Sgt. Lee Kendell Tucker's personal information from the computer memory stick was used to fabricate a video that showed he was against the war. The message was used for a bogus presentation showing that Tucker was sending a Christmas message to his family before he was killed, Tyler said.

Tucker is "alive and well" at Fort Campbell and officials say it's obvious the 2nd Battalion, 44th Field Artillery soldier is a victim of identity theft while he was in Iraq.

The 38-minute video shows digitally-created images of Tucker reading a letter to his family in Florida, condemning the war in Iraq.

1. That was a crappy thing for someone to do.
Making a bogus video that misrepresents a soldier, I mean. It sure as hell doesn't advance the cause of peace.

Nor does the war or this president.

3. The moral depravity of Shrubco
doesn't excuse someone trying to trash a soldier's life.

Seems like something an agent provacateur would do.

What a weird story. Or, rather, what sounds LESS wierd--a flash drive "ending up in enemy hands," or a solider caught making an anti-war video and being forcibly provided with an "official" explanation?
