Three explosions jolt southern Iran - agency
<snip>

"Three strong explosions jolted southern Iran on Thursday, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, but gave no information about possible casualties.

"Three explosions were so strong that they shook windows of houses," the agency said.

It was not clear what had caused the explosions in Khorramshahr in the province of Khuzestan, which borders Iraq.

An Oil Ministry official said the explosions occurred far away from any oil facilities in Khuzestan, the heartland of Iran's oil industry, where small bombs damaged 15 pipelines and one oil well in September 2005.

Khuzestan has been simmering with unrest among the province's mostly Arab population for more than a year."

6. We don't have enough soldiers to hold Baghdad.
But you think we're going to ...what? Invade Iran? Poke it and annoy it? What?

I'm really startled that we haven't put up a thread saying Israel bombed Iran.

So far, we haven't got a concrete link to anything.

9. Shrub's had wet dreams about taking out whatever he thinks
their nuclear facilities are. It doesn't take soldiers, it takes bombs. He also believes the Iranian people will rise up and overthrow the government. Sound familiar?

11. Isn't that the part of Iran inhabited by the minority Arabs?
They say Iran has a minority population of SHia Arabs living in the oil producing areas.This may also be the area where somebody took a shot at the Iranian president or tried to blow up a car in an official presidential convoy
Sorry, I don't have any links but I do remember reading such stories not long after they elected their president and he went on tour outside the capital Tehran.

16. Iranians consder themselves "Persian" with an Arab minority
living along the border. I saw an article that stated the explosions were from mine clearing operations on the Iranian side. Clearing mines would create a safe path for an invading army. I would think the Iranians should rather beef up the border defenses to prevent an army from entering Iran.
