Saddam Execution Rushed to Hide Information — Russian Ex-PM
MosNews

The execution of Saddam Hussein was rushed to prevent the former Iraqi leader from revealing facts that could compromise the United States, former Russian prime minister Yevgeny Primakov has said.

Saddam was executed in an “unexpected” way so “he could not have the last word” and reveal compromising information on the relationship between the United States and his former regime, the PTI news agency quoted Primakov as saying in a televised interview on Sunday.

If Saddam Hussein “had said everything (he knew), the current United States president (George W Bush) would have been greatly embarrassed,” said Primakov, a Middle East expert formerly on good terms with Saddam.

....

He also alleged that Saddam made a deal with Washington before the 2003 invasion of Iraq to allow the United States to occupy the country without meeting any opposition.

Primakov made two confidential visits to Iraq at the request of Russian President Vladimir Putin shortly before the US-led invasion of the country.

3. While I do not doubt Saddam knew things that Bushco did NOT want known...
If it had been truly "rushed," the troops that found him would have been under orders to shoot him, then put a gun in his hand and claim it was self-defense.

4. THEN BUSH HAD NOTHING TO FLAUNT

HE was much more valuable for awhile as a hostage.both as propaganda and to prevent turmoil in iraq. but like all commodities he lost his value.

6. Chimpy's only "bump" came in the days after his capture.
The show trial was a non-issue to most Americans - if that was flaunting, it didn't work. Killing Saddam right when they found him would have gotten Pretzelboy the bump and it probably would have been longer lasting.

7. But then the invasion would have been over
and Bush would have had no reason not to send everyone home.

8. Saddam was removed from power either way.
Yet the invasion changed to an occupation. Reasons changed. I can't see how it would have gone any differently.

10. I've always been a little surprised that didn't happen.
Maybe the geniuses in charge of propaganda in Iraq wanted him alive for propaganda reasons?

Regardless, the trial was a mockery.

And to people paying attention, his execution shows what happens when you shake hands with Uncle Sam.

14. The Arab world would have never stood for it. The leaders of our country do not

understand the Arab mind. Oh they understand the Saudi Royal mind, but that just doesn't count. Even Saddam's Arab enemies believe he should have been treated with some semblance of respect. Friend or foe, none is more cynical than the Arab world. They see the lynching of Saddam just for what it is--a lynching--a VERY CONVENIENT lynching.

9. Saddam was tried and convicted on the lesser of the crimes
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 10:43 AM by Tempest
He was to be tried for the gassing of the Kurds, but the U.S. put a quick end to that since Saddam would have revealed how the U.S. was involved.

And the Kurds are pretty pissed off about Saddam being executed without being tried for killing their people.

18. I doubt this is true.
Whatever Saddam might have had to say would never have been published in any way.

The United States never needed to fear any revelation.

19. I think 'the dick's' personal trip to saudi arabia about 2 weeks before the hanging
was meant to personally give the saudi's the instructions to make the execution happen quickly....BEFORE the dems start their hearings. they definitely did not want hussein talking to anyone.
