Boy Sneaks Past Security, Boards Flight
LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A 9-year-old boy from Lakewood snuck past security and talked his way onto a Southwest Airlines flight at Sea-Tac airport Monday night after running away from home.

The boy’s mother told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the family had been planning to move back to Dallas but when they delayed the move, the boy became determined to return.

“He just made a decision and said, I'm going to get there. Well how he got there is a wonder to me,” the boys mother told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

According to the boy’s mother the boy had stolen three cars in the last month trying to get to Dallas.

“I didn't help him get on a plane, I didn't give him any money to get on a plane, he's only 9,” the boy’s mother said. More...

3. Gonna have to throw the kid into Gitmo til we win the War on Terra.
Nine years old and he outwits the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA crew at the airport.

Ok, maybe not Gitmo. But I'd definitely recommend psychiatric treatment to determine why the boy wants to leave a blue state to get to a red state.

That needs to be looked into.

5. give that kid a job testing airport security
Clearly, "the boy" has MaD SkILz0rZ that would be a shame to waste in juvenile detention.

7. Can we quit pretending the security crap does jack?
These dumbasses line up at the airport, have thier underwear pawed through by strangers, can't bring any shampoo with them, all for "securtity."

Ok! Listen Up America!!

There is no amount of airport security that will keep a determined, intelligent terrorist from blowing your ass'es up!

If you survived your last three flights it was because nobody really tried to kill you. That's it. Anyone who researches this outside of the government and GOP think tanks comes to the same conclusion.

8. That isn't entirely true
Isreal, where surely there are people determined to blow up people, hasn't had a single terrorist incident on its airline. Of course, their security is real and not this fake garbage we have.

9. Can't compare Israel's airline security with ours.
They take theirs seriously. If anyone on the flight crew has the slightest qualm about your possible safety - you're off the plane.

13. That is my point
there is some amount of security which would work. We just don't want that amount, in many cases for good reason.

10. Wait a second, he's nine years old
and he stole three cars in the last month. He's been arrested, twice. Then he manages to run away from home and get on a plane to Dallas. I have a feeling the mother has major issues with basic parenting skills. My kid couldn't open a door and go outside without me knowing about it when he was nine. No less just take off and go somewhere.

14. Seems like someone should look into his home life.
Why does he want to go back so badly that he's willing to commit felony?

11. The fact that it was SWA also plays a part.
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 09:10 AM by Coventina
Obviously, the flight wasn't full, and since there is no assigned seating, once he was on the plane he was golden.

I'm sure the mad rush of SWA's "cattle call" system played a part in the boy being able to sneak past the person at the gate.

on edit: Plus, being 9 years old helped, to be sure.
