DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- They celebrated eight months earlier when a statue of Saddam Hussein was toppled in Baghdad, now they have a lot more reason to celebrate.
Dozens of people in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, Mich., rallied in the streets today upon word of Saddam's capture in northern Iraq. A large chunk of the local population is Arab-American.
As snow fell around them, men kissed one another on the cheek and grasped hands. Women let out a traditional Arab celebratory cry. People also threw candy.
Some carried printed signs with American and Iraqi flags, with the words "Iraq is free at last." One man who fled Saddam's regime says he thinks God sent President Bush to "liberate the country."
But other Arab Americans in the area are more cautious. An official with the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in Dearborn says coalition troops could still face attacks in Iraq.
But he says Saddam's capture is a "good step in the right direction."

My faith in Arab-Americans has been restored. You should have seen them cheering on the streets of Michigan(On CNN). My apologies for doubting you..
