Car bomb hits Iraq police station

At least 17 people have died and 30 are wounded after a powerful car bomb exploded at an Iraqi police station.

US sources at the scene in Khalidiyah, about 35 miles (60 km) west of Baghdad, say it may have been a suicide attack.

" explosion went off near the gate of the station," a local police lieutenant told French news agency AFP. <snip>

<snip>The explosion occurred a day after U.S. officials announced the capture of Iraq's former leader Saddam Hussein.

Reports of a second explosion north of Baghdad could not immediately be confirmed. <snip>

1. How much TNT have these guys been using?
Get enough of that in one vehicle, and they won't even have to be near a building to level it.

Any of our soldiers involved?

2. US media self-censoring again - Bush poll up/feel good only so far
We may find out next week if US folks part killed today - the wounded will be secret forever.

3. Sadly but predictably, these bombings are not going to go away
Watch them increase beyond 35 a day, just to prove a point.

The US is in a desperate situation, and our troops are sitting ducks.

But what everyone in the US expects is that our soldiers will be coming home.

4. I have made the rounds
to several message boards that I belong to and most of the rethugs are saying that things will calm down now...that our troops will be home sooner than later...

this goes to show that it's not over...Saddam or no Saddam...some other wack-job will try to fill his shoes
