So much for Nifong's side claiming this was just minor, petty stuff that the defense was much more guilty of. (The statements issue)

It's too bad no one is going after him criminally, as I've said before. Denying citizens a fair trial is not part of the job.

5. The Smoking Gun has much of the filing. It looks devastating.

According to the filing, Nifong not only withheld the exculpatory DNA results -- providing a report that didn't either reference them or include any underlying data -- but he made numerous false assertions to the Court. And that when he recused himself in January, he still hadn't provided everything that he was required to. And that he made additional false statements to the grievance committee of the Bar when responding to its complaint.

he should face criminal charges. So should the woman who made these bogus allegations. I'll just hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

7. I agree to an extent

I think she should be charged with making a false report. But realistically there are many many false reports made by angry or unbalanced people like this. The difference is there is not a dishonest DA who needs a magic carpet to ride into reelection. In my opinion what Nifong did to her is on a par with the accusation she made against the team.

8. Most of the new accusations have been brought up before on DU.

The only new one is that Nifong has already lied to the Grievanmce Committee of NC about the 'reasons' why he withheld the more detailed DNA test from the defense lawyers and the court.

9. This is extremely damning

This is really a nightmare for Nifong now. This is not hacks on news shows or internet discussion boards--this is the North Carolina bar and they went even farther than predicted in leveling charges against Nifong. This has in my opinion done far more than end his career, it has basically effected the rest of his life.

The worst part is what they have done to the next woman who brings up a legitimate charge of sexual assault against somebody with money, power and connections. How will she ever get justice?
