2 Car Bombs Rock Iraq Police Stations, 9 Dead

BAGHDAD, Dec. 15 – Suicide bombers struck two Iraqi police stations Monday, killing nine and wounding at least 14, authorities reported.

While attacks on police stations have occurred in prior weeks, there is considerable concern here about a spike in violence in response to the announcement Saturday of the capture of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. Seventeen died in a suicide attack on a police station in Haldiya on Sunday.

The most deadly attack Monday was 20 miles north of Baghdad in the town of Husseiniya.

Witnesses said an SUV was driven through a barricade at a police station there and then detonated, killing eight Iraqi police officers and wounding ten.

And 33 wounded, AFTER we captured Saddam. It's gonna get far, far worse, I fear. I always felt that the US was using the threat of Saddam's return like a parent uses the threat of the Boogyman. "Be good, or the evil Saddam will come and get you." Now that that threat is gone, the only people left to blame for the continuing violence will be the US forces in charge of keeping the peace. Since it's obvious they can't do this (100,000 policing 24 million? geez) the full anger of the Iraqis will soon be upon us. God help us and them both.

Since that town is obviously named after Saddam, are they going to assemble a crowd of jubilant Iraqis to tear it up from it's foundations? What a video that will make.
