A Look at U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq-455 U.S. service members have died

As of Monday, Dec. 15, 455 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 313 died as a result of hostile action and 142 died of non-hostile causes, the department said. snip


On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 317 U.S. soldiers have died - 198 as a result of hostile action and 119 of non-hostile causes, according to the Defense Department's figures.

1. And at the rate things are going, the Iraqi police will catch up in
no time. I keep hearing reports about them not having adequate weapons, vehicles, vests, or communication equipment. The Americans can go inside their fortresses, but these poor police stations are really easy targets. All these deaths are so sad.

Why we have trouble retaining volunteers for an Iraqi force... I mean, other than the obvious pay issues.

this site is updated every Friday. Shows photos of those killed and hometown. All of them just kids.
