Panel Sees Slowdown in US Fight Against Terror
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 06:08 PM by pinto
Washington (Reuters)

Momentum has waned in the U.S. fight against terrorism, a federal panel said on Monday, and the chairman urged the government not to let events like the capture of Saddam Hussein lead to complacenecy at home.

In its final report to President Bush and Congress, the Gilmore Commission - mandated in 1999 by the Clinton administration to assess the country's preparedness for terrorist strikes - warned of a slowdown in progress in the U.S. domestic security front since Sept.11, 2001 attack.

<snip>

"It's very easy to get into security as being the only priority we have," Gilmore said. "But the reality is that the civil freedoms issue is side by side...with the security issue."

1. I doubt that...
There was ever REALLY supposed to be a committed WoT. What was planned and carried out was High Drama, diversion and a war on our rights, not to mention money diverted to The Right Pockets.

That's all they ever really wanted.
