As of Tuesday, Dec. 16, 457 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 313 died as a result of hostile action and 144 died of non-hostile causes, the department said. snip

1. Thanks for doing this every day, Don
I'm still keeping my poster of names for our vigils but it reached the point where we can no longer make a double-sided flyer of names. Too many wasted lives. :sigh:

3. Yeah. Thank you, Don.
I remember back in June when we were all wondering when it would stop. I guess now we know. Not yet.

4. Non hostile causes?
Like getting pushed off buildings, the unexplained but "non-hostile" gunshot, drowning in the aftermath of combat when your vehicle plunges into a canal, committing suicide after combat...etc., etc.

Who came up with this artful phrase? I nominate them for the 2003 Josef Goebbels Memorial Creative Communications Award.

5. Isn't freedom wonderful?
Our president said (more than once), "Isn't freedom wonderful", implying that Iraq had become a much better place for the Iraqi people. It's really obvious how much the Iraqi people love us, isn't it? I get such a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that we've made the world a better place.....or have we?
