Bush to Have Knees Examined with Magnetic Scans
19 minutes ago Add Top Stories - Reuters to My Yahoo!

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites), who gave up jogging because of a knee injury, will have both knees examined on Thursday using magnetic resonance imaging devices (MRI), the White House said.

Since injuring his right knee, Bush has turned away from running and to other aerobic activities, like water jogging and using an elliptical trainer, which limits shock to joints during exercise.

On Wednesday, White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters traveling to North Carolina the president would undergo the MRI exams on both knees during a previously scheduled visit to Walter Reed Medical Center to meet wounded U.S. troops.

I would prefer to use a rock pick. Don't weigh much. About 14 or 22 oz. It is used for delicate work.

Don't get me wrong, my hubby is on the right side. However, he's active duty Air Force, so he can't be too vocal. He's probably jealous of me spouting off all the time! He is 37 and will be voting for the first time since he was 18, next year. Moving from base to base has made voting difficult in the past, but he is determined this time!

69. he fell off a Segway while "driving" drunk in well-publicized stunt
His knee was never the same although he later tried to downplay the impact of the fall.

Jogging is hell on knees anyway; people his age shouldn't jog. I know Clinton jogs, but it still doesn't make it smart thing to do. Jogging is a sport with a very high risk of injury. If you are trying to "keep in shape," find another way that has less impact. Of course, if that's your sport, that's your sport, but sooner or later, you will have an injury. OK, enough sermonizing on this topic for one day....I'm speaking to myself more than to the forum. It's so tempting just to run or jog and call that exercise instead of doing a safer but more involved work-out...and running does become an addiction. It's better than some addictions but, in the end, ultimately it does cause harm.

55. It's the media and other politicians who DO NOT stand up
to Bush who need their knees AND spines examined. Do they have spines? Why are their knees so bruised and aching?

There is only ONE politician currently running for president who has the SPINE to stand up to the Bush Machine and that person is Dennis Kucinich. He consistently speaks out against the corporate media (even more so since ABC pulled their embedded reporter from his campaign).

What's with all this crapola about poking fun at Bush is making us (not sure who 'us' are) look bad to the world? This mantra has been repeated quite a bit on DU recently.

Anyway, it is sad. Sad that we (American people) "looked liked idiots" the very first day *hole took office. And each day that *hole squats illegally in the office of the president, it sinks lower and lower.

If you really want to deliver a message, how about telling *hole to get his nasty ass out of the people's house so we can fumigate it.

77. Try A Google Search
Edited on Thu Dec-18-03 11:35 AM by ProfessorGAC
Look into the Florida election results.
- The ORC recount analysis.
- Illegal disenfranchisement of black voters. (They were scrubbed from the voter rolls because their names were the same as someone convicted of a felony. Funny that his brother and a campaign leader, K. Harris, were involved in that illegal "mistake".)
- Voting irregularities in Dade County.
- Incitement to mob violence in Palm Beach County.

Do a search into Supreme Court precedents apropos state election protocols and rights of states' to oversee their own elections. Then read their decision that stopped the recount in Florida. If you don't see the Constitutional disconnect, read it again.

Do a search on the ads run against John McCain which were libelous and folks in the McCain staff were recommending litigation. Look that up.

These guys broke laws to get him nominated. They broke laws to get him an electoral edge and the SC violated our very Constitutional principles to put this dolt in office.
The Professor

79. Look. Let's Make This Clear
I don't WANT A LEADER! I want a chief executive. For that reason, the office is owed no more respect than any other job in this country. I never see the president as a leader of the american people. Only the head of state, or chief operating officer of the gov't.

And, in case you've forgotten, this is a govn't of, by, and for the people. WE ARE THE GOV'T!!! These guys are in there to represent us, not lead us and tell us what to do, what to think, and how to act.

When a guy misrepresents the purpose and tenor of this nation as badly as this braindead syncophant has, he is undeserving of respect.
The Professor

71. look he injured himself while drunk...
...this is not presidential behavior. It is a disgrace to the world. When he fell off the Segway for all the world to see, drunk on his tailbone, then I was in a foreign country. While the country I was in was making plans for a business alliance with its neighbors, the news from my home country was about a drunken idiot falling off a supposedly "idiot-proof" device. It is said that he was in such a clueless state that he didn't even turn on the Segway before operating it.

It isn't as bad as his dad getting on drugs and vomiting on the Japanese prime minister's shoes but it is pretty bad.

I am tired of being ashamed to tell people I am from the U.S. I just tell them I am from Louisiana but nowadays the people of the world are quite aware and they know perfectly well that Louisiana is one of the U.S. states...

If you have any experience with drunks, you know that it harms them in their recovery to "enable" them by pretending not to notice they're drunk and active in their addiction. Our media is what is "sad." Our Congress and our Courts which refuse to cry out when the drunk is staggering around -- that is what is "sad."

People here speaking honestly from the heart and mocking the drunk's behavior are not "sad" -- they are taking a tiny step into the honesty that the drunk needs to face before he cleans up his act.

Any compassion we show that encourages the drunk to stay in denial is a FALSE compassion. It is a form of hate. It encourages the drunk to continue to lie to himself and to the nation -- which in turn leads to his causing more harm to self and others.

Just my two cents in hopes you'll get a better understanding of where we're coming from. The easy compassion is not always the genuine compassion. It is a difficult issue but in this case I honestly believe that the tough love of mockery is the right thing to do. It's just a coincidence that it happens to be more fun too! :-)

80. I Hope Someone Shows Him the Bill for This
I had two MRIs taken last year, at $1,000.00 each. My insurance covered the second, the first came out of pocket.

Results: doctor said, 'yep, that's a cyst, all right.'

89. Top 11 reasons Dubya will have his knees examined.

11. They've already examined his head and found nothing.

10. If the aqua-jogging pictures get out, he'll be former President Bush before you can say "water-wings."

9. It's sort of like University of Michigan center (and former President) Gerald Ford's knee injury, only from cheerleading at Andover Academy.

8. Researchers think that the Bush knees are the key to keeping one's head up one's own ass.

7. Pharmaceutical industry promised him he could get "bionic makeover" like the Six Million Dollar Man.

6. Rove insisted: Dubya on an elliptical machine is a bad political metaphor.

5. Running on concrete in 100 degree heat isn't stupid, it must be the knees' fault.

4. Pain and stiffness make it difficult to count beyond 10.

3. Device that increases his height for photo ops has jammed (see Growth In Office Top 11 list).

2. It's just a cover story to explain why he falls down so often.

1. Halliburton and Bechtel are complaining about the service.
