US announces major drug arrests

The authorities in the United States say they have arrested more than 400
people and seized 18 tonnes of drugs.

The operation targeted a major Mexican drugs trafficking network.

The US Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, said the arrests had been carried
out over a 20-month period throughout the country.

Mr Gonzales said the ring - allegedly run by Victor Emilio Cazares Gastellum -
distributed cocaine, marijuana and other drugs throughout the United States.

Speaking in San Diego, he said that the US authorities had made 66 arrests
in recent days across four states.

1. Hype! Hype! Hype! .... No Delivery.
Still, it's nice for the illustrious storm troopers in the DEA to take their eyes off of our Grandma Mas using medicinal marijuana to stave off nausea of cancer treatments or treat their glaucoma.

Thank goodness for small favors.

3. Phony "drug war" bullshit
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 02:40 AM by ProudDad
The drug war's as phony as the phony "war on terror"!

Both should be ended.

Drugs are a public health problem, NOT a police problem.

The few acts of "terrorism" are police problems NOT a freakin' war!

Just think of what we could do in this country and the world with the extra 2/3 of a TRILLION DOLLARS per year!!??!?!??!

5. 400 people in 20 months
lets see, they picked up about 20 people per month, less than one per day. If they let this major sting go on for 2 years they could have had about 500 people. If they let it go on for 7 years that would be 1,680 people.

Just another day at the office, 20 people per month arrested for drugs.

It is coke coming from Mexico. I wonder what the Columbian government and their militias know about this? Is it the price of doing business, did they approve it? After all they are the third largest recipient of US foreign aid and that money goes to funding the militias. Who in turn help ship coke out of the country with the help of a government that turns a blind eye and gets a kickback. Ever wonder why the price of coke dropped when the "war on drugs" started?
