14 Iraqi police killed following kidnapping
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17413060/

BAGHDAD, Iraq - An al-Qaida-linked Sunni group said Friday that it kidnapped 18 government workers and soldiers in retaliation for the alleged rape of a Sunni woman by members of the Shiite-dominated police force. Hours later, the government said the bodies of 14 security officers had been found.

The attack against Jalal Eddin al-Sagheer, who is also a leading member of Iraq's parliament, came on one of Baghdad's quietest days in months, with one reported car bombing and one fatality.

Thought there was a report yesterday of dozens of explosios in Baghdad?

1. Is it just me???
Or do you also doubt the veracity of a news item that between the headline and 1st sentence describes the victims as being in four different occupations (policemen, government workers, soldiers, and security officers)? And the "Sunni Al Queada"??? Please....

Qaeda-linked group says killed 18 Iraqi policemen

DUBAI, March 2 (Reuters) - An al Qaeda-linked Iraqi militant group said on Friday it had
killed 18 policemen it seized in Diyala province after the government ignored demands it
made for their release.

"The Islamic State in Iraq has given the infidel government of (Nuri) al-Maliki 24 hours
to respond to its demands ... but it (the government) did not give any importance for
their blood," said the self-styled group in a statement.

"We will show the film of the implementation (of the execution ruling) soon, God willing,"
it said in the statement posted on the Internet.

Iraqi police found the bodies of 14 policemen shot in the head hours after the group
showed pictures of the 18 men it said were seized to avenge the alleged rape of a
woman last month.

I was afraid they would do this. Another execution video is coming soon. :(
