Airbus Losing Remaining A380 Cargo Order
Edited on Fri Mar-02-07 06:16 PM by mahatmakanejeeves
Is anybody going to buy one of these things? That is, if Airbus ever gets around to producing them?

UPS, the last remaining (edit: cargo) company with A380s on order, has thrown in the towel.

Note that this is the cargo version being discussed.

1. Airbus is a joke.
It's not a real good strategy to produce crappy products that no one wants, especially when the competition (Boeing) is superior.

But, what do you mean by overpriced? Do the airlines charge you a higher passenger rate when you request to fly on a Boeing. LOL! Let me know how much you love Airbus after spending a total of 5 hours of boarding/unboarding on that new mega-flying cattle car!

10. AIRBUS
Airbus has been selling their planes at a discount so big that they are NOT
making a profit and losing $$ on their sales.

While Boeing as remained steady, they are ahead of Airbus in deliveries and sales to date now.

2. A-380
I have always thought this plane was a white elephant, Fedex dropped their orders, Singapore is
very unhappy with it so far, and others now probably.
Of course in their defense, new airplanes have a lot of teething at first, but I am a 'Boeing'
supporter!!!! Keep our jobs here in the US!!!!!!

5. Was that the super super super jumbo jet that would carry 700+
passengers?

Stupid idea. No room for that many people at the gates, and too long to load and unload. Airports would have had to re-engineer entire terminals.

First Buyer For the Airbus A380 'Flying Palace'
By AirGuideOnline

Airbus has received its first preliminary order from an unidentified customer for a VIP-configured A380 ultra-large airliner.

Details of the arrangement are vague, but Airbus chief operating officer for customers John Leahy told Flight's online news service Air Transport Intelligence that he has a letter of intent to supply a VIP version of the jet. "The problem is that when a VIP customer wants one, he wants it tomorrow," he says. "He doesn't want to have to wait."

Leahy will not say whether, or when, the agreement is likely to be confirmed and has provided no information about the nature or location of the potential customer. Airbus recently referred to the corporate version of the A380 as the "Flying Palace".

Meanwhile, investment company Petters Group Worldwide (PGW) has become the first US customer for the A318 Elite following its order for one aircraft.

Minneapolis, Minnesota-based PGW plans to use the aircraft for corporate flights within the USA, and to Asia and Europe.

The deal takes the order book for Airbus's Corporate Jet family this year to nine aircraft.

12. Its their own fault
The standard corporate contempt for artisans has really come home to roost here.
If that had asked even a single certified A&P mechanic they would have become immediately aware of their design negligence.
No room for the cables, indeed.
It's unfortunate that only the laid off workers will pay the price for this stunning show of corporate incompetence.
