U.S. Airstrikes Hit Qaeda Post in Iraq

The strike occurred Friday west of Taji, where several American helicopters were shot down in recent weeks, and the American assault destroyed at least two pickup trucks with mounted machine guns, said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, a military spokesman in Baghdad.

He said the strike did not appear to eliminate the threat to American aircraft because other weapons had been used against helicopters in Falluja and other parts of the country.

“We have seen other systems,” he said. “When the other helicopters were shot down, it wasn’t always heavy machine guns that did that. Part of the assessment we’re doing now is trying to figure out where in the network these weapons fit in.”

1. That air power took out two pick-ups with mounted machine guns?
Oh boy.

And you know that no innocent civilians were killed in the air strikes, don't you?

:sarcasm:

2. Funny. We have air strikes against occupied Iraq each and every day
But today the NYT reports one of them.

I believe that dropping bombs in occupied territory is a crime according to international law.

Therefore, the NYT will be told to stop reporting on the air strikes.

3. is anyone expected to believe this?
"with Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia"

oh come on.

and

"still investigating the identities"

oh and

Iraqi employees of The New York Times contributed reporting from Baghdad and Ramadi.

smells like more propaganda right on the pages of the NYT where so much disinformation gets disseminated.

4. What's a "Qaeda Post"?
Is there a neon sign that says, "Al Qaeda is in here!" or something?

Of course it doesn't matter what it means (or doesn't mean) because the bold headline is all they're concerned with.
