New Life Church Layoffs - Church hit by sex scandal cutting staff (30 to 50)
http://www.kktv.com/home/headlines/6298672.html

A Colorado Springs television station reports that the New Life Church, hit by a sex scandal that forced the ouster of its founder, is cutting staff.

Church sources say 30 to 50 staff have been laid off.

The cuts range from pastoral staff to part-time nursery workers.

2. ahhhh, geeee, me widdle heart just BLEEEEEDS for these poor innocent people!!
NOT!!

quite frankly, except for the fact that they are in my community, and are probably going to drain even more resources than that tax-exempt monstrosity is doing now, I don't give a DAMN what happens to anybody involved in the whacko world of new life, or focus on the family either.

4. If only all of the other mega-churches and TV ministries
followed I would be a happy camper. God and Jesus shouldn't be for sale in these monstrosities or over broadcast media.

5. of course, if they hadn't given ted another year's salary, perhaps they wouldn't have had to lay
so many people off(will try to find link in local paper from several weeks ago, but it said that he was being given about $130,000 to help fund the start of his "new life")

6. Prayer of Jabez
That's okay. Those folks that are laid off will just keep repeating the "Prayer of Jabez" and it will be all right. :sarcasm:

17. Layoffs hit megachurch after sex scandal (AP)
(But they said Ted was cured, how can this be?)

Layoffs hit megachurch after sex scandal

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- The megachurch founded by the Rev. Ted Haggard, who was fired over drug and sex allegations, has laid off 44 people amid falling income following the scandal.

The cuts announced during services Sunday amount to about 12 percent of the church's work force, associate pastor Rob Brendle said.

Brendle estimated that church income has fallen 10 percent since the scandal last fall, forcing layoffs including pastoral staff, support staff and nursery workers.

"The reality is, we ask our people to be faithful stewards of their money and living within their means. We have to do the same," Brendle said. :nopity:

20. Not sure why everyone's gloating so much
Part-time nursery workers are probably not pulling down six-figure annual salaries, and those people who were doing honest work for low pay are now out on their kiesters for something that wasn't their fault, that they couldn't control, and that they had nothing to do with.

But gloating over the fall of Ted Haggard is so much more fun, who cares if a bunch of people struggling to make ends meet lose their jobs? Let the meth jokes and gay sniggers roll.
