NEW YORK Ann Coulter's syndicate declined to comment about her Friday slur implying Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is a "faggot."

When contacted by E&P today, Universal Press Syndicate issued a statement saying it "can only address Ms. Coulter's newspaper column," not her speeches. Universal added: "To date, we have not heard from any of her client newspapers about the verbal remark. Yes, her client list is still about 100."

If Coulter submitted a column containing the word "faggot," would Universal allow it? A syndicate spokesperson replied that Universal "is not going to speculate about a column that hasn't been written."

Universal was also asked how it would have reacted if Coulter had slurred an African-American politician with the "N" word (the racial equivalent of "faggot"). The syndicate declined to answer....

Coulter followed up her slur against Edwards with a note on her Web site saying Edwards' campaign manager -- former Congressman David Bonior -- "is fronting for Arab terrorists".

Unlike many cases in the past, several leading conservative commentators have joined in condemning Coulter's "faggot" remark, as have Republican candidates for president McCain, Romney and Giuliani.

She is the face of and voice of the republican party. She says what they think. No need to condemn her mccain and romney and giuliani. She is one of you. Have her show up with you and you all can raise your hands in a victory hug on the stage at the end of one of her insightful speechs.

look at how those 2 people on Edwards' staff were let go because of something unflattering they said about Catholicism.

Edwards never should have allowed himself to be bullied into doing anything. This round 2 attack on his campaign by Republican Spokeswoman Ann Coulter is proof that there is no such thing as a liberal media. Anyone with any kind of journalistic integrity would condemn her and distance themselves from her--and anyone who sponsors anything of hers would withdraw their support. But there is no economic pressure being brought to bear on her co-conspirators. If they can't feel shame, then they're not going to be ashamed of being a party to her shit.

The more we complain about her, the more empowered she becomes. One has to retort with the intellectual equivalent of "hey, is that a booger in your nose?" to take wind out of her sails. But you have to understand you're dealing with a person who appears to live by the addage: "I know you are, but what am I?" That is her zip code.

The thing to do is for Edwards and the other Dem candidates to not grant any more interviews to outlets which don't publically reprimand and distance themselves from her--like Obama is doing to fuxnoise.

I was livid and let them know what I thought about her attacking those women. They never bothered replying.

7. Next time, gripe to the newspaper(s) who carry her column.

UPS simply distributes the column, which subscribing newspapers pay for. So the newspapers are UPS's customers, not you.

Newspapers have dropped syndicated columnists in the past and, if enough drop Coulter, UPS won't have a saleable product and Coulter won't have a column.
