U.S. gasoline rise 31 cents in month (Reasons Unclear)

U.S. gasoline pump prices have jumped about 31 cents a gallon in the past month and the reasons are unclear, AAA said.

It might be because refineries switched to making more-expensive warm-weather fuels from winter-weather fuels, spokesman Geoff Sundstrom in Orlando, Fla., said. But the surge arrived earlier than usual this year, he told The Miami Herald.

Other industry observers point out crude oil prices have risen a couple of dollars a barrel in the past month.

"I'll have to start taking the bus if this continues," Samuel Maldonado told the Herald as he filled his red minivan with $2.61-a-gallon regular gas.

IMHO another thing Dem congress should investigate. Especially since oil companies are making windfall profits. I can't help but believe the consumer is once more being shafted.

I work the Midnight shift. I see one price when I go to work at Midnight and 4 cents more when I leave work at 8 AM in the morning. As of today it was $2.69 at the local CITGO station, others are about 2-4 cents a gallon more.

21. Yes, it's due to seasonal reformulations required by clean air legislation.

It's nothing new, though.

In summer, different regions require specific mixes, which diminishes economies of scale.

I imagine it was because no one was stopping to get gas for days because the roads were so bad, and they needed to entice people with a bargain. Now it's back up to $2.35 when it's 70 degrees out.

Alternative fuel sources that will make us energy independant from OPEC controlled foreign oil suppliers. Right now, it's a two barreled shotgun aimed between our eyes. We are dependant on foreign nations to supply us with fuel at artificially inflated prices. That's insane. The other barrel is that the oil refiners (also monoplies) don't give a shit about us either. And Hugo Claus ain't gonna be driving his sleigh full of 55 gal barrels of discounted oil to drop down the chimneys of needy girls and boys once * is out of office.
