Man surrenders in attack on Yale singers

One of two men accused of taunting and beating members of an all-male singing group from Yale University surrendered to police Tuesday.

Brian Dwyer, 19, turned himself in Tuesday and was later released on $80,000 bond, according to Millbrae Police Sgt. Jim Vangele.

Dwyer and Richard Aicardi were charged Monday with assaulting two members of the Baker's Dozen a cappella group outside a New Year's Eve Party in San Francisco. Witnesses said that after the group sang "The Star-Spangled Banner," the attackers hurled anti-gay epithets and then beat and kicked some of the singers. One man, Evan Gogel, suffered a concussion.

Aicardi was not in custody Tuesday. Tony Brass, a lawyer for Dwyer, said Aicardi also was expected to turn himself in to police.

Harris said Monday that although police identified five suspects in the case, she did not have enough evidence to bring other charges.
