William WILL get married to Kate, MPs told
Prince William and Kate Middleton will get married, MPs have been told.

A House of Commons select committee has heard that William, 24, had spoken openly about his plans.

Respected royal photographer Arthur Edwards - who has been honoured with the MBE by the Queen - told the MPs: "She's in love with Prince William. I'm sure one day they'll get married.

"I have talked to him about that and he's made it clear... he wants to get married."

1. And hearts broke 'round the world
I wish them much happiness together. :toast: If the wedding happens it will be so sad that his mother couldn't be there.

2. My condolences to Kate. She will bargain away her life for the sake of love.
(I felt the same way for William's mother.)

Once William's intended is announced, she will never enjoy the pleasures of anonymity and privacy again. The paparazzi will become her permanent shadow. She will no longer be able to walk to her car, jump in, and drive away unimpeded. She will no longer be able to run to the corner grocery to pick up a quart of orange juice at 10:30 at night without a headline on the front page of the Mirror. She will be hounded to death like Diana. I honestly don't believe William, Charles, and the Queen collectively or individually have the ability to stop the onslaught.

Kate may truly love William, the man. But she is about to become a world personality by default and will have a trade-off that will compromise and test that love. While she is potentially going into all this with her eyes wide open and knowledge of what to expect (unlike Diana), I still feel sorry for her and her future.

3. William isn't stupid, he's not gonna let the same happen to her as happened to his mother
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kate_Middleton

In February 2006, it was announced that Middleton would receive her own 24-hour security detail supplied by the Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Department. This fuelled further speculation that she and Prince William would soon be engaged, since she would not, otherwise, be entitled to this service. No engagement occurred, and Middleton was not granted an allowance to fund this security. However, media attention greatly increased around the time of Middleton's 25th birthday in January 2007, prompting warnings from both Prince Charles and Prince William and from Middleton's lawyers, who threatened legal action. As a result, two newspaper groups, News International and The Guardian group, decided to refrain from publishing paparazzi photographs of her.<4>-snip-

One woman wearing a Mercedes steering wheel as a halo is quite enough thank you.

5. At least William is marrying her because he loves her...
unlike his father to Diana.

8. Agreed. Diana was a royal brood mare. A lovely person otherwise,
but used for the sake of breeding purposes.

26. Yes, Charles should have married Camilla
and spared Diana the grief. At least her son is smart enough to not make the same mistake.

11. I hope they really love each other
They are going to need that love. I do think that Phillip and Elizabeth truly love each other, whatever one may think of them as regents.

Just keep Harry and the Bush twins far apart. Those are two gene pools that should never mix.

12. "The Queen" didn't display any real love between the two of them

There sure is greed from both of them.

The movie made them look like ice.

13. Let's hope she's up the the scrutiny and the paparazzi.....
once she becomes engaged. Her life story will be published on every tabloid after that.
Her fashion sense had better be up to par too, or she'll be hearing the obvious comparisons between her and Diana.
So far, the media hasn't sensationalized their relationship which is amazing.
Maybe they've learned their lesson from Diana and will cut her a little slack. Let's hope so.

14. Kate has a maturity that Diana lacked when she married Prince Charles.
Granted, Kate Middleton will also be older if and when she married Prince William. Diana was a young woman barely out of her teens when she married Prince Charles. Unfortunately, Kate will be giving up a lot of privacy and other things mere mortals take for granted.

While I was stationed in Greece, the Greeks I worked with were having a conversation about Princess Diana. They were saying how lucky she was because of the nice jewelry and clothing she had. How she was able to travel anytime and anywhere she wanted. I asked, "Lucky? While do you thing she is lucky? She can't walk down the street without having security details in the surrounding area."

16. What's with the continued "hate " on royalty on DU? After the slime
ball foist on us in 2000 and 2004, can you fairly say that the descendents of George W would have been worse? And remember George, Sr. and Ronald and Nixon...throw in a Hoover or two. I truly think that Queen Elizabeth has tried to do her duty as a monarch...at least she drove an ambulance in WWII. Our current gem (not) took drugs and drank his way through his Vietnam service.

19. When I was in London, I went to Harrod's for the shopping,
but once there I thought I might as well see the tribute set up by Dodi Fayad's father to Diana and Dodi in the huge luxurious multi-million dollar store.
I was fully prepared for an over-the-top room with an ostentatious display of the two friends/lovers; but what I wasn't prepared for was the chintzy little side pocket in-memoriam gesture, located at the step off point of two up and down escalators in a small hallway. And not to mention that Dodi's dad, the grieving father, had a representation of himself in the store in the form of the great Sphinx.

This guy is truly nuts nuts nuts.

All I could think was that poor Diana must be spinning. This old goat has her stuck between chocolates and lingerie for eternity.

21. I hope Queenie realizes what a mistake she made with Charles
He wanted to marry camilla when they were both 20, and she said NO..

William wants to get married so good for him.. He's not exactly got worries about his future..so why not marry the one he wants..when he's still young.

You just knew that it would be from either the Mail or the Express.

Personally I'm more interested in a story in the local press that a Husband/Wife duo of Labour councillors on my local council have decided to take part in Wife Swap. Oh dear. :eyes:
