House GOP protest Muslim seminar on Hill

By JIM ABRAMS, Associated Press Writer 15 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - A House Republican leadership group said Monday that Democrats should retract an offer to let the nation's largest Islamic civil liberties organization use a Capitol conference room for a seminar.

The House Republican Conference referred to the Council on American-Islamic Relations as "terrorist apologists" and called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) to cancel the forum scheduled for Tuesday.

"Democrats arrange official meeting with pro-Hamas, pro-Hezbollah group in U.S. Capitol," headlined a Conference press release carrying a Washington Times article on the planned meeting.

"It's really disappointing," said CAIR national communications director Ibrahim Hooper, that whenever there's an attack from elective officials "we don't even ask any more which party it is. It should be a concern to ordinary Republicans that the party is being viewed as a reservoir of anti-Muslim hate."

4. Quoted from another topic...
"It's very important for the people of South America and Central America to know that the United States cares deeply about the human condition"

It's amazing how these people can lie through their teeth to the face of so many individuals. I think their best interest would be to re-paint the facade they care about people. Do 30% really believe the torn down image of conservative compassion they claim to have now?

7. Like Coulter, these bigots see no need to apologize for their open hate.
After Americans have fought for centuries against racism, hate, bigotry, and xenophobia. The GOP personifies these evils. And does so proudly.

The Rev. Moon Honored at Hill Reception
Lawmakers Say They Were Misled

By Charles Babington and Alan Cooperman
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, June 23, 2004; Page A01

More than a dozen lawmakers attended a congressional reception this year honoring the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in which Moon declared himself the Messiah and said his teachings have helped Hitler and Stalin be "reborn as new persons."

At the March 23 ceremony in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.) wore white gloves and carried a pillow holding an ornate crown that was placed on Moon's head. The Korean-born businessman and religious leader then delivered a long speech saying he was "sent to Earth . . . to save the world's six billion people. . . . Emperors, kings and presidents . . . have declared to all Heaven and Earth that Reverend Sun Myung Moon is none other than humanity's Savior, Messiah, Returning Lord and True Parent."

Details of the ceremony -- first reported by Salon.com writer John Gorenfeld -- have prompted several lawmakers to say they were misled or duped by organizers. Their complaints prompted a Moon-affiliated Web site to remove a video of the "Crown of Peace" ceremony two days ago, but other Web sites have preserved details and photos.

Hypocritical b*st*rds.

On edit: my point is they demonize American muslims for partisan reasons but are quite happy to do billion-dollar deals with muslim countries. The Repub base should get a clue and realise they're being played.

16. Since the House Republican Conference Leadership don't want
"terrorist apologists" in the House of Representatives, I presume they are taking measures to exclude those in their party who opposed Clinton's air strikes on Afghanistan and Sudan and blocked his counter-terrorism initiatives from serving in the House or entering the Congressional buildings?

Thought not.

21. The Republicans will never stop
until we have war in this country. The people will eventually
catch on to the Manipulations and Katie bar the door.

The resentment is building up and at some point, just
as steamer can explode so can the American people. People
would be wise to at least appear just a little even handed.
I am referring to American Citizens you know people like
you and I White Anglo Saxon Catholics, WASPs, WASEVamgels.

Republicans cannot seem to operate unless they have some
group to put down. Real Inferiority Complex. Try to
make someone else look bad or "the bad guy(s)" thinking
it makes them look good.
