15. Yeah, but Gonzalez, as AG, would make other announcements, such as ...
sending media reporters and members of Congress to Gitmo as enemy combatants for criticizing the purge of federal prosecutors. ;-)

5. Will he or won't he
and if he does....what other piece of shit will take his place

and it will be just one more piece of shit

resigning isn't accountability

Sure, I want him gone...but I also want him held accountable and resignation is not the same as being held accountable.

18. Exactly. Congress should subpoena him immediately.
Get his crimes on record before BushCo pardons him. It would be far better if he was impeached, but his resignation would put an end to that.

10. Excuses please!!!
Please rank and add your own:

-- I forgot

-- issue was blown out of proportion by an overzealous left-wing media

-- We are investigating

-- We can't comment on an investigation

-- I accept responsibility, and that's why I'm firing everyone else

**extremely remote at this time: I have submitted my resignation

17. You got it! He is totally innocent of any wrong doing
The media and the liberals are only trying to keep bushco from accomplishing all that needs to be done to keep America safe, etc., etc.,.....

That bunch never admits any failure, only brilliance. After he speaks the media will agree he is doing the right things.

Someone mentioned on this site yesterday Gonzos constant smile/smirk, so true. I call it his patronizing look.

13. Here's what's gonna happen:
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 12:18 PM by kestrel91316
AG will "accept responsibility" and maybe say "mistakes were made".

AG will keep his job (because he's DOING his job the way Bush demands) and there will be no adverse consequences.

We will be told to "get over it - he accepted responsibility".

Business as usual will continue. Bush will get to appoint the replacements without Congressional approval. Congress will go back to minding their own business.

24. Some change
of topic then a comment on how firings are normal and legal and "routine". A quick RW spin defense and Rovian gall attack against partisan interference in the DOJ affairs. Probably a sneaky reference to "vote fraud" being mercifully held back from DOJ concerns. How does a lawyer as opposed to a pol handle press conferences? With cautious boldness and manipulation and never committing an answer to facts or plain statements. Of course some pols are lawyers too.

30. Question: What was the WH role?
Answer:

110,000 people work at DOJ, I don’t know what they all do. I generally know that there was a request from the WH to replace all USAs.

He still has the fucking nerve to claim this was a performance issue.

Gonzales hasn't changed his story from overblown personal matter. He is simply stating it in a less arrogant way.

33. Gonzo accepts responsibility,
but not blame. There are 110,000 people at DOJ and Gonzo says he just can't know what all of them are doing. No one has asked what all of them were doing, only a choice few.

Gonzo seems to be saying he knew nothing.

INformation was shared with congress that was incomplete.

Contol of 110,000 people??? Can't keep up with all that is going on, duh.

Passing the buck to Sampson, he knew nothing??

"I take responsibilties", I didn't know what all was going on with Sampson tho.

He had his talking points and didn't vary.

He has no intention of bailing out. He has done nothing wrong.

39. Gonzalez lying his way thru press conference
#1 He says he supports all the firings
#2 he says they were done without his knowledge
#3 he was nervous as hell and stumbled wildly during his chat and kept saying "poor performers"
#4 He is "BEGGING" congress to stay confident in him
#5 Regarding his Chief of Staff, the guy resigned YESTERDAY but is here today, hmmmmm,
sounds like some serious paper shredding is going on.

Can't congress demand, immediately all documents related to firing NOW and put a moratorium on paper shredding.

REmember when Gonzales gave everybody 12 hours to shred documents related to a prior investigation?

this guy is a major asshole and watching CSPan Republican callers ask for his resignation NOW was like
music to my ears.

this guy has a matter of months before he's going the route of libby.

good riddance Mr. Torture man.
