Obey readies committee for “around the clock” work on Iraq supplemental

House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.) told lawmakers Thursday that the markup of the Iraq supplemental could go on “around the clock.”

The panel has begun work on the measure, and Obey said he expects “many amendments.”

Protesters and activists were kept out of the full committee room, but they could be heard chanting outside. Anti-war activists loudly demanded that Congress “stop funding the war” and asked to be allowed inside the committee room.
