Reform tells Olmert no on Iraq

The U.S. Reform movement reportedly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's request to rescind its resolution calling for a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq.

Olmert made the request when he met with Reform leaders earlier this week, Ha'aretz reported, because he fears a rapid U.S. pullout would destabilize the region and could even unseat Jordanian King Abdullah II, an Israeli ally.

Reform's leaders, who approved the resolution this week, countered that a continued U.S. presence is destabilizing and diminishes U.S. influence in the region.
