Wilson: I did not recommend husband for Niger trip

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson testified Friday that it was not her idea for her husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson, to make a trip to Niger to investigate an allegation that Iraq had sought yellowcake uranium.

"I did not suggest him. I did not recommend him. There was no nepotism involved," she said, adding, "I did not have the authority."

It was the suggestion of another CIA officer who knew that Joe Wilson had previously gone on other CIA missions "to deal with some other nuclear matters," she said.

Later, she was asked to write an e-mail summarizing the discussion that included the possibility of her husband going. A portion of that e-mail was later taken out of context to make it seem that she had suggested her husband go, she said.

2. "Taken out of context"
The weapon of liars and criminals. "She sent her husband." She's not covert. No one knows if she's covert. There was no underlying crime. She was a desk jockey. OBL offered to Clinton on "a silver platter."

No wonder treasonous bastards like limbaugh and hannity fear the fairness doctrine.

3. I wish there had been more focus on this
There were several subsequent opportunities to emphasize this, which unfortunately were not seized.

4. Oh, she's just lying again. RUSH SAID she recommended Joe.
So you can take it to the bank.

Rush doesn't lie.

6. K&R. I found her testimony extremely credible on this point.
I was very impressed with her overall.

Toensing was not alone in coming across as a liar. That guy - forget his name - head of security or whatever within the administration - his story just did not add up. Okay, so let's get this straight; he rather confidently testified that a civil investigation would not be appropriate during the pendency of the criminal investigation, yet he cannot recall having had a discussion about the issue with anyone? Ever?? Doesn't it seem as though he would have discussed the issue at least in passing with someone prior to coming to such an important determination in a matter of national security? Does this guy sit in a locked office alone making determinations about whether to pursue investigations in the case of national security breaches? What. Ever.

By way of contrast, I thought the other guy on his panel was forthright and knowledgable. I could not tell whether he was a Democrat or Republican -- I kind of found it refreshing that I did not care.

9. Yeah, the second guy seemed embarrassed by his own responses.
He should have prepared better!.

These administration guys are real losers. One was better than the other but the other seemed to be soft in the seams when the committee grilled him harder...
