BAGHDAD - The U.S. military on Sunday announced the deaths of seven more troops in Iraq, including four killed by a roadside bomb while patrolling western Baghdad — the latest American casualties in a monthlong security crackdown in the capital.

--------------------------------

I heard on BBC this morning our new man in Iraq saying that things were going well. :wtf: We lost 6 yesterday and 7 today? I don't think I can stand it if things keep going this *well*

2. no, these 7 were all from Saturday according to this:
After the explosion that killed four U.S. soldiers on Saturday, the unit came under fire and another soldier was wounded. During this month's crackdown in the capital, the battalion had found eight weapons caches and two roadside bombs and helped rescue a kidnap victim, the military said.

An explosion in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad killed another soldier Saturday and injured five. A sixth soldier died Saturday in a non-combat related incident, the military said. A U.S. Marine also was killed Saturday in fighting in Anbar, according to a separate statement.

Saturday's deaths brought to at least 3,217 members of the U.S. military who have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

The surge is working. They're out in force; they've even got Delay. C-span seems further right than usual. They must be worried.

7. Bu$hco hates the US public far more than it fears it.
Until Bu$h and his cabal fear us far more than they hate us, this slaughter will continue. After all, what have they to fear? Our indifference to their emasculation of the supreme laws of the land (including, especially, Gonzo's shredding of the Geneva Conventions and the subsequent protection that afforded Bu$hco against prosecution for their manifold war crimes) has only emboldened Bu$hco's contemptuous rampages against world opinion. Until they fear us mightily, Bu$hco's inoculation (mostly by their manipulation of the judiciary and the "press") from the consequences of malfeasance will only grow stronger. After all, there is a lot to lose. And, according to the little Bu$h himself, "Money trumps peace."

About 3/4 down the page. Bart gets it. Every issue runs the current count with the gusher. Tragic indeed.

8. You heard it right, peacebird! Gen. Petraeus was quoted as saying things were looking up in Iraq.
I wonder if in a past life Petraeus was the German general that sold Hitler on the idea that invading Russia in late summer would be a cakewalk.

9. I simply don't care. We have American Idol and Survivor to be concerned about
It has been four years into this war which, and the last election started to show people's dissatisfaction with it. But it isn't enough. The Senate is essentially deadlocked, and it must be remembered that in 2004 the citizens essentially reelected this administration twice, knowing full well of this administration's intentions. "They fixed the election", doesn't cut it. If enough people were against the war in 2004, and actually came out and voted it would have been different.

but there were other priorities, and the sacraficing that the Americans needed to do included Self-indelgence and entertainment at the top of their list...
