In response to a Nov. 30 letter from Bellevue lawyer Richard Pope, the PDC reviewed filings from the GOP for the 2006 election year. Pope, a frequent, unsuccessful candidate for judgeships and other elected offices, said the party had missed deadlines for reporting expenditures and contributions. He also said the Republicans had failed to list the occupations and employers for donors of $100 or more, as required by law.
The PDC investigation found that the party had missed the deadlines for more than 100 reports, which were filed anywhere from five to 306 days late. The reports covered nearly $170,000 in contributions and other money received and more than $180,000 in expenditures. For the year, the party took in more than $342,000 in total contributions and receipts and spent nearly $358,000.
