LA Gov. Kathleen Blanco (D) will not seek re-election

Governor Kathleen Blanco told a statewide television audience that she won't run for reelection this fall.

Blanco said she was making the announcement, nine months before she would be scheduled to step down, in order to keep politics out of a bold agenda she plans to present during the upcoming legislative session.

Blanco said she had devoted "every waking hour" to the state's recovery since the impact of hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.

"I'm proud to have set the bar high when it comes to economic development and education," she in the televised address.

have been very effective. The latest claims that John Breaux is no longer legally eligible to run for the governors office b/c he registered as a voter in Maryland last year. The ad also shows an aerial view of his maryland masion that the ad contends was paid for with lobbying dollars. I first noticed the ad about a week ago...paid for by...guess who?

Breaux is not by any means CLOSE to being my favorite Democrat, but the prospect of Jindal advancing politically frightens me to death.
