U.S. Administrator Escaped Ambush in Iraq Two Weeks Ago
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: December 19, 2003

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- U.S. administrator L. Paul Bremer escaped a rebel ambush on his convoy two weeks ago, authorities said Friday. An explosion, meanwhile, struck the office of a major Shiite party, killing an Iraqi woman.

The number of American soldiers killed by hostile fire since President Bush declared major combat over on May 1 reached 200 this week, the Pentagon reported Friday. In the latest violence, a roadside bomb exploded near a military truck outside Baghdad, wounding two U.S. soldiers.

Nobody was injured in the attack on Bremer's convoy on Dec. 6, the same day as a visit by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, a spokesman said. ``As you can see, it didn't succeed,'' Bremer told reporters Friday in Basra.

1. And America breathes again

It's easy to see why this story was delayed. The thought that their Beloved Potentate Bremer could have been in danger would have precipitated dangerous panic throughout the nation.

2. I may be the only one but
it wouldn't have broke my heart if they killed the bastard, or at least blew a leg off.

3. you're not alone..
while I certainly would never hope or wish for something like that to happen, I wouldn't have shed a tear, or felt any pity if he had been greased.

4. this story seems thin to me
give me an eyewitness, give me a reporter going to the location and asking if any Iraqis saw it.

5. Who The Hell Is Paul Bremer? Who The Hell Cares?
where are all the news stories about the individual soldiers who "narrowly escaped death", etc.? These soldiers have names, not just mr. bremer. do you really think the iraqi's really gave a sh*t that mr. bremer was in the convoy? do you really think they know who the hell he is? most americans don't even know who the hell he is.

moronic handwringing repuke chickenhawk COWARDS!
