Fed. Appeals Court Rules Against Commandments Displays in KY
Fed. Appeals Court Rules Against Commandments Displays in KY

December 19, 2003

NASHVILLE (AP) -- A three-judge federal panel in Cincinnati has ruled against the Ten Commandments being posted in Kentucky public buildings, even as part of "historical documents" displays.

Sumner County officials say they'll remove a historical documents display that includes the biblical laws from the county administration building in Gallatin.

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Thursday held similar displays in Kentucky to be unconstitutional. The three-judge panel ruled that including other historical and legal documents in the displays does not change their original religious intent.

Sumner County Mayor Hank Thompson says local officials expected the ruling and said the county will obey the law.

Thompson says he hopes a group of local citizens will chip in and place a Ten Commandments sign on a private vacant lot across from the courthouse.

4. It won't matter
Just mention the usual phrase "10C banned, Prayer banned etc) and there goes the Democrat unless he is a local and the locals know him/her. I don't make the geriatric rules but I sure know how they get played out.

6. Enjoy the remnants before theocracy, folks
As long as our courts continue to withstand this Biblical plague, we have at least the hope of reason, rather than superstition, ruling our lives.

But you don't need a visit from an angel to see what's ahead. Let us relish the spectacle of secular government while it still exists.
