Moore, Gore...and now Santorum?
Source: Tribune

Former GOP senator says he plans to make documentaries to counter left-wing films.

| Michael Moore, look out. Rick Santorum is getting into the documentary filmmaking business and he's out to tell ''the other side of the story.''

Less than three months removed from his congressional career, the former Pennsylvania senator said in an interview last week that he is planning two film projects in part to counter what he characterized as the stream of left-wing documentaries coming from Hollywood and independent filmmakers.

The first project, Santorum said, would explore the relationship between radical Islam and the radical leftists in various countries around the world, including Latin America. It would be about an hour in length.

The second would be a longer, broader documentary that he said would aim to ''change the culture of America.'' He declined to go into specifics about the proposal.

1. Who in their right mind would want to go see a film produced
or otherwise associated with Tricky Ricky? They'd better label it comedy because it sure won't be a documentary.

14. Yeah, but I'll bet Fox, NBC-GE, ABC-Disney, and CBS scoop him up
and promote him heavily.

4. I'm sure he will get a good budget to work with...
There's a lot of coal in Pennsylvania (owned by the middle class :sarcasm:), getting ready for lower emission standards, government subsidies, special safety regulation variances and tax breaks when the price of peak oil makes coal mining cost effective again...

27. Mineral Rights
There's a lot of coal in Pennsylvania (owned by the middle class :sarcasm:)

Well, quite a bit of the LAND it is under is owned by the middle and lower class,
(but the coal companies own the "mineral rights", so if they want that coal,
they can dig up the land to get to it, and if yer house is in the way, too bad).

11. He's only doing it for the "payoff" he's due from his contributors... That's how these guys work...
Leave office, start doing next to nothing for big bucks.

Here, Little Ricky will be reading a teleprompter for a couple of days and get millions.

No one outside of the Freepers has to see the video as I'm sure it will plant untold Urban Myths about global warming and whatever shit they're going to try to throw on the wall and see if it sticks. The coal companies will write it off their taxes, Rick will make millions (and undoubtedly there's a book being written for him as I write this... more money) etc.

It's just business, folks.

7. Santorum seems pretty good at discovering ways in which he can get paid for his one talent: hating!
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 11:29 AM by LeftishBrit
Fortunately, I doubt that any documentary by Santorum will be able to 'change the culture of America' - that sounds like megalomania on his part. I hope so, anyway.

''The key for me was to stay in the world of ideas'" - I assume that must mean 'as opposed to the real world!'

8. Radical Islam is much more comparable to radical Christianity
What has the radical left to do with radical Islam or Christian fundies? We are for the separation of Church and State and against State-sponsored religion.

Well, at the very least this new hobby of hate should leave him less time to scheme his way back into my home state.

I get so tired of all these Conservatives complaining about liberal bias (in Hollywood).

If you don't like it, produce your own darn films. You have plenty of money.

16. ''The key for me was to stay in the world of ideas,'' i do fear his ideas!
At the beginning of the year he joined the conservative Washington think tank Ethics and Public Policy Center, where he is heading a program that focuses on highlighting what it calls the threat from radical Islam and other anti-Western forces.

''One of the reasons we are not doing well is because our leaders, including myself, have not been direct in describing this enemy and why it is so dangerous,'' Santorum said.

Santorum is also writing a book on a related topic, speaking at conferences and universities and has signed on as a contributor to Fox News.

''The key for me was to stay in the world of ideas,'' Santorum said at his office at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, where the walls are still blank and framed pictures are still in packaging atop his desk.

Last week,, Santorum announced that he is joining the Washington office of the Pittsburgh-based law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott part time.

24. Yeah, I foresee hilarious parties
People coming for private home screenings, and then for larger screenings in independent movie houses. The documentaries will produce a cult following, people dressing up like Rick Santorum or one of his whiny brood, or maybe even his necro-American child for midnight screenings of these hootfests. Folks will produce and play alternate soundtracks that make Santorum look and sound even more like a buffoon. Unsuspecting repressives will show up for screenings and be appalled at the (perhaps literally?) naked exercise of First Amendment rights, and write overwrought letters to the editor.

Oh this looks like fun, fun, fun for as long as Mr. Santorum wants to run with it.

18. "explore the relationship"???
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 12:09 PM by NI4NI
what relationship? I thought exploration means searching for something unknown, like Magellan or Lewis and Clark did, or like NASA in outer space. It's evident Sick Rick already believes there is a relationship between radical Islam and Hugo Chavez for example already, which I'm sure his warped mindset with media help will turn his fictional findings into "facts" as proof positive.

Or go ahead, compare radical Islam RIGHTwingers to leftwingers and be a laughingstock (still) of the world.

After all, you will fool the American Talibornagains; they're fooled daily by you rightwingnut MFers, and love it.
