Voting device pact at issue Firm sues over snub by state
Source: The Boston Globe

Diebold Election Systems Inc. , one of the country's largest manufacturers of voting machines, is scheduled to argue in court today that the Office of the Secretary of State wrongly picked another company to supply thousands of voting machines for the disabled.

Diebold says it will ask a judge to overturn the selection of AutoMARK , a Diebold business competitor, because the office of Secretary of State William F. Galvin failed to choose the best machine. The contract is valued at about $9 million.>>>snip

Galvin cited as an important factor in favor of AutoMARK its machine's use of one kind of paper ballot for disabled voters and others.

1. I hate this new headline rule. No one knows how great a story this is
because of the rotten headline they purposely put on the article. Who is going to read such a dull as dishwater article titled "Voting device pact at issue Firm sues over snub by state"?

Probably a GOP judge will give the contract to Diebold.

2. Yes, I wish I could have had Diebold in the title
even in brackets would have touched it off for what type of story it was.

5. GOP Judge
"Probably a GOP judge will give the contract to Diebold."

You know, I probably would have dismissed this suggestion, if I hadn't just read this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x491130

3. Your Honor, I move that I am the rightful winner of the 100m gold medal...
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 02:22 PM by progdonkey
It's patently obvious that I'm a better runner than the quote-unquote winner. Sure, I tripped over my laces after five steps and spent the rest of the race screaming at the crowd for laughing at me, but it's clear that the gold medal should be awarded to the better runner, which would clearly be me.

8. Die Diebold Die and the Irony
How ironic for Diebold to sue a state for buying the Automark.

Diebold is now marketing the Automark, but is not federally certified with it.

9. I'll K&R too
It's a really good story. I thought Diebold was trying to sell it's voting systems business. I guess they have some money to blow on one last attempt to rig something.
