Pentagon to release official findings on friendly fire death later Monday

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Investigators probing the friendly fire death in Afghanistan of former football star Pat Tillman found no criminal negligence, a government official said Monday.

The findings end a yearlong inquiry into the conduct of the U.S. soldiers who shot Tillman in 2004 and a possible subsequent cover up.

A government official who was briefed on the findings of the investigation said Monday that acting Defense Department Inspector General Thomas Gimble found no instance of criminal negligence. He spoke on condition of anonymity because the Pentagon had not yet publicly released its findings. That announcement was expected later Monday.

as friendly fire is an accident, an assumed risk of warfare. What has been the outrage is the lying by this Administration as to the fact that it was an accident.

Pat Tillman was a fine man, a patriot, and a brave soul. That being said I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that THEY killed him before his opinions on Bush/Cheney and the War on Iraq were allowed to see the light of day. They couldn't have HIM out campaigning for Kerry and against Bush.

SAN JOSE, Calif Mar 26, 2007 (AP)— Investigators probing the friendly fire death in Afghanistan of former NFL star Pat Tillman found no criminal negligence, a government official said Monday.

The findings end a yearlong inquiry into the conduct of members of Tillman's platoon who opened fire on him in April 2004.

A separate investigation, also due to be released Monday, looked at everything that happened after Tillman's death, including allegations of a coverup. That investigation will recommend that nine officers, including up to four generals, be held accountable for missteps in the aftermath of Tillman's April 2004 death, senior defense officials told The Associated Press, also on condition of anonymity.

9. the boys realized that the death of pat would

do more harm than the cover-up of the "rescue of jessica lynch".so the best thing to do is try and cover it up but the truth did come out-he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and everyone involved paid a price. pat paid with his life and the rest of his fellow soldiers will never forget what happened that night. god only knows how many soldiers through out history have died by the hand of their fellow soldiers and tragically pat is one more....
