FBI agent told to keep quiet over attorney firings

By Thomas Ferraro
Reuters
Tuesday, March 27, 2007; 5:08 PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An FBI agent was warned to keep quiet about
the dismissal of a U.S. attorney after he told a newspaper her firing would
hurt the agency's ongoing investigations and speculated politics was
involved, a U.S. Senate panel heard on Tuesday.

FBI Director Robert Mueller defended the handling of the incident, saying:
"I do not believe it's appropriate for our special agents in charge to
comment to the media on personnel decisions that are made by the
Department of Justice."

On January 13, the San Diego Union-Tribune quoted Dan Dzwilewski, head of
FBI's San Diego office, as saying Lam was crucial to ongoing investigations.
"I guarantee politics is involved," he was quoted saying.

Feinstein said her chief counsel had called the FBI's San Diego office to
verify the accuracy of the story. She said the office confirmed it was true
"but they also said they'd been warned to say no more."

4. "do not believe it's appropriate for our special agents ... to comment"
otherwise the power to investigate might bring out the truth

Rove said it and DeLay confirmed it - the real deal was to build a "permanent majority" for the Republicans (like the Nazi party had a 'permanent majority' and Putin is reconstructing one)

18. Exactly. Much like with PNAC's white paper ...
... they haven't exactly hidden their true goals.

("permanent majority", American hegemony, end to Social Security and other social programs, and on and on...)

Daddy long-legs -- A noteworthy characteristic of this spider is its habit of shaking the web violently when disturbed.

10. Thank God the Democrats won the majority in both houses; it's the reason so many disgusted people
are finally coming forward. There's now a chance that they can right some wrongs that have gone on too long.

19. And, hopefully, once the Democrats have shown that they'll follow through...
... and some corrective actions are taken, maybe even more whistleblowers will come forward.

14. CNN's Washington Journal was crucifying Lam this morning...
His guest (didn't catch the name) was hammering HARD on that "immigration is the reason" canard. None of the callers pointed out the email that exposed the lie of this tactic.

""It's all part of a growing ongoing investigation into corruption in defense and intelligence contracts, which already has sent former Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham to prison and, legal sources say, may threaten others in Congress and the CIA. ""
