Schwarzenegger Revives Fainting Bakersfield Girl (with video)
Source: CBS-5 KPIX TV

It was Arnold Schwarzenegger, former movie action hero and now California governor, to the rescue Thursday during a public appearance in Bakersfield.

The governor visited Cesar Chavez High School where he was paying tribute to the late labor leader with the unveiling of a portrait.

During his remarks on stage at the school, Schwarzenegger leaped into action when a girl fainted nearby.

Asked everyone to do push-ups later
I don't think he should have made her stand up according to CPR training

2. The Gropenator in action. I can think of only one reason that man
would rush to put his hands on a teenaged girl, and fainting has nothing to do with it.

I loathe that man, in case you couldn't tell. I think he's a CRAPPY actor, too.

4. I knew voting this turd in would pay off.
He only has to rescue 79,999,999 more girls to make up for the $80,000,000.00 he blew away in his special (s)election crap.

6. he'd probably have to rescue the same ones several times over
The California women I know would rather leap off the stage and make a run for it.

By the way, is that a Harris hawk in your sig?

10. That's Guenevere, a red-tailed hawk at the SF Zoo.
Guenevere is the only red-tailed hawk I've seen that sits on the ground.

12. she's beautiful!
The RT's I've known have had more white on their plumage (maybe due to different regional populations), so I got confused.

5. It wasn't in Bakersfield!
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 05:57 PM by Tempest
It was in Delano, which is 30 miles north of Bakersfield.

7. I thought it was funny. He saved her some embarrassment, at least, and lightened things up pretty
well. The guy may be a sleaze and you may not like his politics, but his reaction seemed pretty innocent to me, and pretty human.

8. Teachers are trained in first aide and cpr.
To assume someone just fainted without a quick check of the subject,
which he didn't do, runs into major medical risks.
He didn't check her breathing, eyes, vital signs etc. and those can be done very easily and quickly.

He was lucky that is all it the child had suffered from.

of universal health care.

If you're lucky enough to have him near, he'll resuscitate you?

11. This is a little overdone (he did the right thing, but...)
I saw the video, he walked over and helped her, but he didn't "revive" her. Who the heck wrote this article.

And what's with all the other dodo's on the dais standing around looking stupid and the Governator being the first one to respond despite having to cross the entire stage.

My reaction to the headline was, wow, that's great, what a good guy, did he do CPR or something? Then I saw the article and thought, well, that's good and all, but was it really heroic?

And at times I like Arnold.

Ah well, goofy world.

18. I just saw the video... all he did was go over and pulled her up by her arm
He didn't do anything that a untrained person couldn't had done. He didn't do any emergency treatment or check any possible vitals.

All they did in both instances was take the student off stage. Ahnold wasn't even the first one to respond in either situation.

19. As a reminder to those throwing rocks
While he isn't great, his acting is terrible, he's no Bush and honestly what happened didn't look staged and just the kind of reaction you would expect from a normal human being. He might not be a genius, but at least he's not a sociopath like Bush who wouldn't have cared or tried to make it a photo-op.

20. I'll give Arnold credit for that
However, I think that he only governs near the center because of California's political climate. If Bush tried to run for Governor of California instead of for Governor of Texas, he would have campaigned as a moderate.

21. Yeah true
Except then Bush would have taken a hard right turn after getting into office. Arnold tried that and it blew up in his face, he's not arrogantly stupid to the degree Bush is.
