Giuliani Faces Questions About Sept. 11
Source: AP

NEW YORK (AP) - Rudy Giuliani's White House aspirations are inescapably tied to Sept. 11, 2001 - for better and for worse.

While the former mayor of the nation's largest city was widely lionized for his post-9/11 leadership - "Churchillian" was one adjective, "America's mayor" was Oprah Winfrey's assessment - city firefighters and their families are renewing their attacks on him for his performance before and after the terrorist attack.

"If Rudolph Giuliani was running on anything but 9/11, I would not speak out," said Sally Regenhard, whose firefighter son was among the 343 FDNY members killed in the terrorist attack. "If he ran on cleaning up Times Square, getting rid of squeegee men, lowering crime - that's indisputable.

"But when he runs on 9/11, I want the American people to know he was part of the problem."

...

Giuliani was also criticized for locating the city's emergency center in 7 World Trade Center, a building that contained thousands of gallons of diesel fuel when it collapsed after the terrorist attack.

4. Was that firm was called MSM....
Even here at DU during that period people were talking about what a good job 'Julie' was doing.

I kept looking to pin point just what the good job was, but all I saw was that since the Chimp was in hiding, they kept showing 'Julie' walking down the street with a hard hat on. While avoiding any Dem that may have had something to say.

He may have been there trying to do the job he was paid to do, but I saw nothing extra from him.

Rudolph W. Giuliani has hired Olsen & Shuvalov, a prominent Texas consulting firm with ties to Karl Rove, to assist his presidential exploratory committee with fundraising, voter outreach, and development of his political message, according to campaign officials.

Fearing the Indian Point nuclear plant is an appealing target for terrorists, neighbors, activists and local officials are demanding that parent company Entergy shut down the facility, which is located 35 miles upstream from New York City. The New Orleans-based energy company, which owns nine other nuclear power plants, hired former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's PR firm to help out with security and crisis management issues. O'Dwyer's PR Daily reports that Entergy enlisted Giuliani Partners for its "real-world public safety experience" earned following the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center. "Giuliani's firm includes former NYC police commissioner Bernard Kerik and fire chief Tom Von Essen. Kerik is to represent Entergy as 'in-house consultant,' and represent it before public hearings," O'Dwyer's writes. Burson-Marsteller does PR for Entergy.

3. Didn'e he hire Bernie Kerik?
The guy who used a federally-paid-for victims' apartment for screwing Judith Miller? What a fine judge of character.

6. 'A building that contained thousands of gallons of diesel fuel'?
Edited on Fri Mar-30-07 10:25 AM by bananarepublican
Is this supposed to be the reason for #7's collapse? (Wasn't this the same building which held the records of many stockmarket related criminal investigations?)

Why was RG so keen on shipping the twin-tower 'steel scrap' on the 'quickest boat to China' before a proper crime scene investigation could be conducted?

Prior to 911, how many steel-framed buildings had collapsed due to fire?

Wasn't Larry Silverstein caught on video saying to go ahead and 'pull it', i.e. building #7?

9. Yes, just a few of the facts surrounding 9-11 that get lost in the shuffle.
For an in-depth discussion of Giuliani's testimony before the 9-11 Commission, see p. 404-411 of "Crossing the Rubicon" by Michael Ruppert.

16. The collapse of #7 never made much sense
I was chatting about this over supper today. One of the dinner guests was pretty surprised by the official story.

7. Don't forget his idea to cancel mayoral election
He briefly floated the idea to extend his term in the 9/11 aftermath. Don't need no stinkin' election here!

10. That is very important and it must never be forgotten
Very important. Giuliani attempted a power grab. It was stunning. Hard to believe. Even after Bloomberg had been elected and was supposed to take over Giuliani thought it would be better if he remained in office for awhile, since he'd done such a great job over the 9-11 disaster . As I recall, a lot of New Yorkers were even falling for this. I just simply couldn't believe the mass hysteria, that people would willing to give up their rights to that goon. Even Bloomie seemed to go along with the plan at first, going along with the myth that Giuliani was doing such a great job. Yes he was doing a very great job mugging before the ever-present TV cameras.

Just listen to the NYPD (" We were heros, now we're zeros") tell how great Giuliani handled 9-11.

15. He also said he wasn't going to disburse 9/11 contributions to the city
until the following March--only a brief public outcry made him change his mind.

17. How did he know to leave building 7 when that floor was built
to be the forefront and base to deal with this kind of trouble for the mayor
Why is this not talked about?

Nevermind
I will PULL my statement.
