Gonzales prepares for congressional testimony

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Attorney Gen. Alberto Gonzales will begin prep sessions this week for his much-anticipated testimony later this month on the fired U.S. attorneys controversy, Justice officials tell CNN.

Gonzales is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 17 in what is viewed by many in Washington as a make-or-break appearance for the embattled Attorney General.

Justice officials confirm that a substantial preparation effort will take place.

"We'll bring in the appropriate individuals to participate, which could include outside lawyers," a Justice Department official said.

18. Plausibility assessments being assigned to competing versions of the truth.
The poor Executive Branch struggles under the staggering burden of Congressional oversight.

"Oh for the good ole days..." an Executive staffer may have muttered, "...when we could get the Patriot Act passed without hardly anyone reading it first, when we could circumvent FISA legislation without anyone asking questions and we could start a war based on the threat of WMDs that didn't exist.".

I feel so sorry for them. NOT!

Gonzales cancels vacation to prepare for Senate appearance

Tuesday, April 3, 2007

By LARA JAKES JORDAN
THE ASSOCIATED PRES

WASHINGTON -- His job on the line, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales shelved plans for a family vacation and began preparing Monday for a showdown with senators over the firings of federal prosecutors.

An appearance next week in front of a Senate panel that oversees Justice Department spending is shaping up as a trial run for Gonzales' scheduled April 17 testimony to a separate Senate committee investigating the dismissals.

The White House said Monday that Gonzales' testimony cannot come too fast for the besieged attorney general to explain his previous statements about the firings, which Democrats contend were politically motivated.

"Look, the attorney general thinks it's in everyone's best interest -- and we agree with him -- that he be able to get up and talk to Congress sooner than later," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

21. My first questions:
So, Mr. Atty Gen. I understand that you prepared for this meeting. who did you prepare with? What topics did they discuss? For how many days? You served the nation's interest by staying and preparing for an entire week? Whose idea was it to prepare like this?

We want a copy of all your preparation materials. since you used outside sources to practice the question and answer, there is no privilege attached. Produce them tomorrow, along with a list of all participants.

40. I hope they question him on the prep procedure...
Like they ask him if he had been prepped to say "I don't recall", etc. Like why did he need a couple of weeks to prepare to tell the truth.

It will be a test of the congress, too. We'll see if they can actually get the truth out of him, or if they will roll over again.

I hope the Dems in congress coordinate their questioning.

What MSM is going to cover it? Hopefully the MSM bigwigs will also get their day in front of congress to explain why they became a propoganda arm for the Bush administration.

If there is a just God, these folks will be tried and Bush leaves office before he can stamp out a pardon.
