Condoleezza Rice: I'm glad Imus was fired
Source: Reuters

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Friday that radio host Don Imus' comments about the Rutgers University women's basketball team were "disgusting" and she was pleased he was fired.

Imus called the women players "nappy-headed hos" -- racist, sexist remarks that resulted in a barrage of protests and ultimately in the outspoken host losing his CBS Radio show, which was also televised.

"I'm very glad that there was, in fact, a consequence. I think that this kind of coarse language doesn't belong anywhere in reasonable dialogue between reasonable people," Rice said in an interview with syndicated radio show host Michael Medved.

Rice, the first black female U.S. Secretary of State and a former college professor, said the young women Imus targeted were fine athletes trying their best.

"It gets ruined by this disgusting -- and I'll use the word 'disgusting' -- comment which doesn't belong in any polite company and certainly doesn't belong on any radio station that I would listen to," she added.

Yeah right Condi. Tell your boss to stop inviting the hatemongers to the WH every year and have them broadcast from there. Tell Cheney to stop going on Limbaugh and Hannity. You bunch of hypocrites!

Much worse to others of her own race. She doesn't have the RIGHT to be be glad about anything.

Yes she does
She is a professional, succesful black female. Regardless of her politics, she has way more right to be glad about this than most, who do not happen to be black females.

12. She sold out long ago Dude
Remember her shoe-shopping-spree while citizens drowned in New Orleans?
Climbs the ladder of her own success utilizing Affirmative Action--then kicks it down behind her so that nobody else can climb it.
Please. She has NO right to be offended by ANYTHING after her crimes against humanity.

15. Still, she's a black American woman
who has the right to feel offended by Imus's comments. His comments have nothing to do with the politics of those offended by them.

Don't get me wrong, I think she's been a mediocre public servant. Still, that doesn't change her skin color or her phenotype.

And you only consider her "mediocre"??
Mediocre would be FABULOUS considering what she has given us.

20. "Only on the outside"....
Culturally, she might actually not be a black American. Remember, though, that most blacks around the globe, me included, have nothing to do with black American culture and still we are all blacks- as black as every black American. Anyway, in her case, you have a woman that can't escape what she is phenotypically, regadless of her politics and actions. Maybe she hates her blackness deep inside and rejects black Americans for that reason, but she's still what she is to the rest of the world.

In terms of her performance, I think the Bush Administration is a mixture of pure evil and sincere incompetence. The neo-cons in the administration, with Dick Cheney leading the bunch, are pure evil. They are the ones doing the real damage. The rest of them are incompetent puppets, enablers, etc.

I think Condi has served the Bush administration because she actually enjoys being the "token black" in the group, not because she is inherently evil. She probably feels she is liked and respected by conservative, white America and that makes her extremely happy.

31. She does enjoy being the token...
She was interviewed some years ago regarding the church bombing in Birmingham Alabama in 1963 where 4 little girls died. She knew one of the girls and was a friend. When asked by Oprah if and how she was affected by the bombing. This Bitch actually said that it didn't really affect her because "HER FAMILY HAD ALWAYS BEEN ALLOWED TO SHOP AT THE WHITE STORES IN TOWN"!! Oprah was slackmouthed at the reply. This heifer doesn't care about anyone in reality. She has a sister in the Bay Area...who can't stand her. She's a professor at one of the universities there, I believe it's Stanford.

That broad deserves to be put UNDER the jail, barefoot, without any of her Manolos, Chu's or even a used pair of keds. Preferably in some nice stagnant water, a cottonmouth or two and some folk on the dry side of the cell with high powered rifles, locked, loaded and pointed at her rusty-dusty. Top this off with no potable water or food, ambient room temperature of about 98, no air movement and absolutely no truly edible food easily available. Each time she is able to procure food, more charges and accusations should be levelled at her ass---and oh yeah, a working television showing her retarded hero and his creepy pundits enjoying parties and soirees, commenting on her complicity in and blaming her for her condition, all the time completely ignoring her reality and surroundings. Now, that would be justice...

They had the nerve to demand that some of that good oil money be given back to the people in terms of decent wages and working conditions.

Beck, Limbaugh, Savage and Coulter who say things that are just as offensive as what Imus said? Apparently that's alright with them, especially Limbaugh because Cheney is a frequent guest on his show. Its not the hypocrisy that astounds me anymore, its that some people in this country actually fall for their empty words.

Bush hosted a group of RW radio hosts back in September. Some of these people have said some pretty offensive things but apparently its ok. Note that Limbaugh was invited but not able to attend.

Bush hosts right-wing radio talk show hosts at White House. The guest list included Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz, Michael Medved, Laura Ingraham, and Mike Gallagher. (Rush Limbaugh was unable to attend.) Friday’s off-the-record talk, set for 30 minutes, ended up lasting 90 minutes
