. . "Nicknames for Democratic candiates, their supporters, or their opponents are no longer permitted anywhere on Democratic Underground.

If you wish to discuss any Democratic candidate, you are required to use that person's real name. You cannot use a nickname or a different name or add asterisks or anything else.

If you make a comment about any candidate's supporters, you are required to refer to them simply as "(Candidate Name) supporters" -- "Clark supporters," "Dean supporters," "Kerry supporters," "Kucinich supporters," etc.

If you make a comment about any candidate's opponents, you are requied to refer to them simply as "(Candidate Name) opponents" -- "Clark opponents," "Dean opponents," "Kerry opponents," "Kucinich opponents," etc.

Any messages posted after 10:00AM Saturday which violate this rule will be deleted and a warning will be added to your record.

I know this is probably NOT the right way to enquire, but I am pretty sure I will get a quick response?

Does this mean we can no longer use our "pet" names for those in power, for example" George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condalezza Rice etc., ?? After all they would fit in the classification of "opponents" ?

Apologies for using this forum, but I suspect many may have the same question / concern.

(and it is "almost" LBN ?)

Although I'm certain that the post refers only to Democratic Party candidates; as written "Nicknames for Democratic candiates, their supporters, or their opponents are no longer permitted anywhere on Democratic Underground." applies to ALL candidates of any party and, by extension, ALL opposing candidates.

in skinner's response to this question. there certainly is some ambiguity over whether we will have black marks on our records for using pet names for rethugs like bush*, etc. oops... black mark. 8^)
